Howdy Y'all from Homestead Blessings!
As you can see, we are covered in snow and it is so much fun! We love snow!
We have been very busy and productive on the homestead these past few months and due to that {and a cranky camera} we have not been so productive on blogging. What is that they say? Oh, "you can't have your cake and eat it too". I reckon we could change that saying to "you can't have your homestead and blog too". :)

Back in the fall we helped our dear friends in Alabama harvest their first sorghum crop. It was lots of fun and a load of work too! Here, where we live, our neighbors make sorghum every year and we usually help out in the fields- so it was a new adventure when we were blessed with the opportunity to help out our friends.
In September, we got to attend an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social and Dance at a church fellowship not too far from here. We had a lovely time and met some wonderful new friends which is always a blessing. Most everyone who attended the dance came arrayed in period clothing with the Civil War being the main theme and we learned new dances like "The Tennessee Traveler" and "The Grand March".
Thanksgiving was quiet at home and another family came to share our bountiful meal with us and in the late afternoon we had a huge rain storm which then brought cooler weather. We really had a good time decorating {in any creative manner we could} for the holiday of thankfulness. Jasmine and I found these beautiful green tinted wine goblets for only fifty cents each and we bought all of them {there were only 8}. Then I made name tags cut out in the fall leaf shapes with scripture on the back and we tied them to the goblets to complete our table setting decor. The meal was delightful with the usual dishes including our own homegrown turkey, weighing out to be 19 pounds dressed! We were pretty excited I must say.
And now, here of late we have been painting the house, room by room. It has been such a blessing to "build our house" as the woman in Proverbs 31 does. Coming up next is maple syrup {yeah!} and seed planting and chicken butchering and spring plowing....      Well! I better go and get busy! :)
Y'all take care and many blessings to your homesteads!

Lovely photos! :)
Glad to hear you are doing so well! I don't remember seeing a picture of your home before and it is just so pretty!
I hope you each are enjoying the snowy weather and I look forward to the next time you post.
My family loves sitting down together to watch your DVDs. :) It's strange though, because I feel as if we are old friends...when in all actuality, we have never met!

Warmly,
Katy :)

It is lovely to see your update & your photos! I received your CD for Christmas & it has been such a blessing to our family! We have it playing in our car all the time & already we know most of the songs by heart. I wish you could ride along with us as we all sing Green Beans in the Garden at the tops of our voices!
Your snow pictures look so beautiful - of course it is summer over here, so I am enjoying seeing coolness!
Have a wonderful day
Renata:)

I so much apprciate your dvd's and my little girl 5 is also enjoying them so much. I am hoping and hoping that youwill come out with more DVD's I would just LOVE LOVE LOVE to see one on house keeping, making a house a home, daily tasks, scheduling etc. Sad to say but these are not characteristics that my mother passed down to me. Now being a mother of 3 small children I really struggle with these things. Keeping my home clean is a big issue for me. I also like making my home look homie. Please consider this for your next DVD.
Blessings

Love the pictures!

I just watched the show about making bread again on the NRB channel. I think it is tied with your herb DVD as my favorite. :)

I bought the gardening and cooking DVDs for my grandchildren. The oldest, age nine, is really into cooking. One of her sisters, age five, is going to be the family gardener.

I just found your blog & can't wait to look around. I'm your newest follower. I wish(pray) that I had a homestead:~) I'm hoping that God is just preparing me for what He might provide later.

Dear West Ladies,

you might be surprised to know that your neighbors up here in snowy CANADA love your videos!

My wife and I were just discussing how wonderful it would be if you could provide an authentic pie recipe (say strawberry pie). We can't seem to get a good pie crust going -- but we're sure you folks have some hidden talents in this area.

Best Regards from

Thank You for being a blessing!!

hello girls,
Ye are so so lucky for such a wonderful and full life that ye use for the glory of the lord just as he subscribes us too. You know I am growing up in the outskirts of a city south of Ireland and you don't know how much I can't wait to grow up out of my teens and move into the country and live a life just like you. But I think I am going to move to America (all in the will of the Lord).I have two sisters just like ye and my mum and dad.I also make a lot of my clothes myself. You know one day I might end up at your back door. I love the pictures and you have given me a few more ideas of skirts to make (just like ce ce's skirt when shes feeding the chickens. I really appreciate your songs and website as I thought there was no one in the world as the way I wanted to live. Love Hannah
