The Good Lord willed, and the creek did rise!
And the rains came down and the floods went up...
and up...
and there was a little Mississippi in our yard!
Then we got the classic Southern winter storm, no snow but ice!
It makes everything so pretty, the only kind of crystal a country girl wants!
The horses paid the storm no mind,
just as long as they got their way, I mean hay!
A glassy canopy over our chert road...
all the way home again.

Your road is lovely. It's rare that you can have a road without electric/phone/cable line poles destroying the beauty.

Oh how beautiful! Beautiful blessings to be thankful for trees standing up instead of being split too--the last few ice storms here in New England have been pretty rough and we have had lots of trees down!

I had to chuckle when I read your blog today because I would give anything if our creek rose the way your does. When ours rises we pray and pray it doesn't get into the house! We've experienced two major floods at our Kentucky homestead since 2003 and while water got under the house once it's never gotten into the house (a huge blessing!) Now the barn was another matter! But in spite of it all we love our place so much and thank God for it every day. :-)

Just beautiful ~ thank you for sharing! We are in the middle of a very hot, very dry summer, so it is refreshing seeing your water & ice (although up North they have had flooding, just missed down here for now ~ all in God's timing.
