Wild West Weather

The Good Lord willed, and the creek did rise!

And the rains came down and the floods went up...

and up...

and there was a little Mississippi in our yard!

Then we got the classic Southern winter storm, no snow but ice!

It makes everything so pretty, the only kind of crystal a country girl wants!

The horses paid the storm no mind,

just as long as they got their way, I mean hay!

A glassy canopy over our chert road...

all the way home again.

Lovely pictures! The complete opposite to what it is like here in South Australia. We are sweltering through 44*C (111.2*F) here today - and we could really use some rain!
Stay warm!

Your road is lovely. It's rare that you can have a road without electric/phone/cable line poles destroying the beauty.

Oh how beautiful! Beautiful blessings to be thankful for trees standing up instead of being split too--the last few ice storms here in New England have been pretty rough and we have had lots of trees down!

What beautiful and oh so peaceful pictures. I couldn't stop looking at the picture of the road with the "glass canopy". It's amazing.

Lovely photo's and words. Thankyou for sharing the unique beauty of your winter in America. Its summer here in New Zealand and I've been enjoying some lemon balm tea, inspired by watching your videos:) Bless you all - Linda

I had to chuckle when I read your blog today because I would give anything if our creek rose the way your does. When ours rises we pray and pray it doesn't get into the house! We've experienced two major floods at our Kentucky homestead since 2003 and while water got under the house once it's never gotten into the house (a huge blessing!) Now the barn was another matter! But in spite of it all we love our place so much and thank God for it every day. :-)

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing with us. We've had some cold weather, but no ice. Here in SC, we're not as subject to it, but still get it once in a while. God bless!

Good evening ladies, I just ordered both of your CD's & the cookbook (already have all of the DVD's) On the gardening video you all sing a song that starts out
"One sunday mornin' in the month of May" Could you tell me the name of that song. I just love it & can't find lyrics for it on the internet. Thanks so much for all the inspiration & information. Beth

Just beautiful ~ thank you for sharing! We are in the middle of a very hot, very dry summer, so it is refreshing seeing your water & ice (although up North they have had flooding, just missed down here for now ~ all in God's timing.
Have a wonderful week
Blessings

You have such a beautiful homestead. I appreciate the godly character that you project in your living. May I ask what church you belong to? Your dress, demeanor, your long hair present a Christ like character that is seldom seen. May God bless you and yours.
